Developing Halibut Production in Norway

Norway has a long tradition of aquaculture and offers a unique combination of natural conditions and industry expertise. With clean coastal waters, access to renewable energy, and well-established infrastructure, it provides a solid foundation for responsible fish farming. Our locations in Judaberg and Frøya support the innovation and development of sustainable whitefish farming

Frøya

In Frøya we hold three approved licenses for sea cage production of Atlantic Halibut, with an additional site application currently under review. Together, the approved licenses allow for a maximum production capacity of 2,340 tonnes. The new application, if approved, would add a further 3,500 tonnes to our capacity. As we gradually scale up production at the site, we are also developing Krutøya as a research and development facility. Here, we focus on expanding sea cage production of whitefish and testing new equipment and operational solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability across our operations.

Judaberg

At our facilities in Judaberg on Norway’s west coast, our primary focus is research and development. The site plays a key role in advancing breeding programs for Spotted Wolffish and supporting the growth of sustainable wolffish aquaculture. We maintain a dedicated broodstock at this location and take part in a national R&D network within the Norwegian wolffish industry, helping to drive innovation and share best practices across the sector.
